I take your confidentiality very seriously. Our sessions are conducted through a PHIPA (Personal Health Information Act) and PIPEDA (Personal Information and Protection and Electronics Document Act) approved platform called Jane.
Information will not be shared or communicated, directly or indirectly, without your consent. However, according to the laws in Ontario, there are some limits to confidentiality as follows:
~ You disclose that you are an imminent risk to yourself or someone else
~ You disclose abuse or neglect of a minor under the age of 16 years old
~ You disclose abuse by a healthcare or mental healthcare professional
~ You disclose infomation about neglect or abuse of a senior
~ The court subpoenas your clinical records
In our first session, we will discuss confidentiality so I can answer anymore questions you may have.

I want you to get the most out of therapy. One of the best indicators of successful treatment outcomes is the fit between a therapist and client. During the consultation, you can get to know a bit more about me and my approach, tell me more about what you’re looking for, and see if we’d be a good fit.
-
Therapy can be useful for anyone at any stage of their life. You will be able to non-judgementally explore your experiences, emotions, worries, feelings, and thoughts with someone who is an unbiased, objective third-party. You may uncover and learn new things about yourself and gain different perspectives and ways of thinking.
Therapy doesn’t only have to be accessed after a life changing or emotional event. Even if things feel good overall, therapy can help you build resiliency (the ability to recover from difficulties) skills.
-
Therapy is collaborative and ultimately, only you are the expert of your life. As therapists, our role is to help you recognize how much you already know. We cannot give you direct answers to your problems, but we can support you in recognizing your ability to answer them and give you tools so you can feel empowered moving through life with confidence.
Here are some things that can help you get the most out of the process:
~ frequent and consistent sessions
~ active participation and introspection
~ keep a journal or jot down notes about what thoughts, feelings, or experiences you would like to cover in session
~ Provide feedback on what’s working or not working in session
In addition, we will never pressure you to address something you’re not ready to talk about. You’re in control with the direction of the session.
